Backyard Mushroom Farming

Learn how to grow mushrooms in your own backyard.  This mini-course will cover the basics of mushroom production.  We will explore what species to grow, current growing methods, myco-remediation, and more.

The first half of the day will be class room learning.  Followed by a delicious mushroom chili.  The second half of the day will include  hands-on mushroom production from log culture to mulched bed production.

Mushroompeople will have all your mushroom supplies for sale at the end of the course.  Check out the website www.mushroompeople.com

The price of the course is $55 dollars and includes lunch.

Directions to The Farm School

If you are coming from the south, use a mapping program to get you to Lawrenceburg, TN, Highway 43.  Go north and turn left on Highway 20 (about 20 minutes north of Lawrenceburg).  Follow the directions below, starting at Highway 20,  from there.

Directions from Nashville  • Take I-65 south about 30 miles from Nashville• Take Saturn Parkway (exit 53/Hwy 396) south to Columbia.• Be careful to take Hwy 31 south to Columbia or you will end up at the entrance to the Saturn Plant.• In Columbia, turn right at the Hwy 412/43 South intersection.• Continue on Hwy 43 South for about 25 miles.• Turn right on Hwy 20 to Summertown and go 3.5 miles.• After passing under the TVA power lines, turn right onto Drake Lane and go 1.1 miles.  You will see a Lawrence County sign on the corner of Drake Lane.• Take the right fork, go 0.4 miles to The Farm gate. • Turn right on Schoolhouse Rd.  The Farm School is the passive solar building on the left• It is about 75 miles from Nashville to The Farm.
