Base Mapping

Our base mapping for the Edible Forest Garden Course started on Saturday.  Using 300 foot tapes and several 100 foot tapes we started to create the base maps we need for the course and for the future of our design process here on Spiral Ridge.  Base mapping this way is so much more fun than using GPS and computers.  To us Landscape Design is still an interactive art form that involves very little technology, some simple tools, an intimate relationship with the land and fun.  Our designs reflect our love of art and the processes involved.  Drawing landscapes is a creative expression that is becoming a lost  due to technology advances in design software.  So when you have us create your design expect us to do it the old fashioned way.  Base mapping without GPS/computers, Graphics with pens and water color, and our Spiral Design Process promises creativity and lessens our ecological footprint.
